If one sees a deceased in a good state in a dream, this lends hope that he is in a good state. If one sees him in another type of state, this could simply be devils taking on the form of people. Devils take on the shapes of people in a disliked situation in order to grieve the living. This is because devils are very avaricious to do anything that brings grief, worry and sadness to the believers. Allah has said, “Secret counsels are only from Satan, in order that he may cause grief to the believers. But he cannot harm them in the least, except as Allah permits” (al-Mujadalah 10). So if a person sees something evil for a deceased in a dream, he must seek refuge in Allah from the evil of Satan and the evil of what he saw. He should not communicate that dream to anyone concerning that deceased. In that way, the deceased will not harm whatsoever.

To be the best person in the world, you must focus on perfecting your character, serving other people, and learning and teaching the Quran. In Islamic teachings, greatness is not measured by wealth, power, or social status. Instead, the Prophet (S) explicitly defined who the “best” people are through several authentic narrations. By aligning your daily actions with these specific definitions, you can achieve the highest spiritual and moral standing in the sight of Allah. Furthermore, Islam teaches that the best of people are those who are most beneficial to humanity and those who treat their own families the best. To implement this, you must speak the truth, avoid backbiting, practice extreme humility, and respond to hardships with calm patience rather than anger.

After the Hijra, the most critical internal threat to the nascent Muslim community came from the Munafiqun (Hypocrites), led by Abdullah ibn Ubayy Ibn Salul. These individuals outwardly professed Islam to maintain social standing but secretly worked to destabilize the state, frequently spreading demoralizing rumours. Simultaneously, severe tensions arose with the three major Jewish tribes of Madina—the Banu Qaynuqa, Banu Nadir, and Banu Qurayza—who had initially signed the Constitution of Madina. Over time, these tribes breached the mutual defence pact through acts of open hostility. These political betrayals were further aggravated by severe economic strain, as the sudden influx of penniless Makkan refugees strained Madina’s limited resources, creating social friction that internal enemies continually tried to exploit to fracture the community.

Why do pain and sufferings exist in the world? We find sickness, old age and death. We see things that are ugly, people who are insane and foolish. There are storms, earthquakes, floods, draught and famine. We also see people commit sins, show disloyalty, unfaithfulness, greed and insincerity. We see people commit atrocities; they fight and make wars. We know all these and many more problems. There are evils caused by human beings and there are natural disasters. There are suffering for individuals and there are those that involve a large number of people. But we also know that this is not the whole story. Besides all these negative things, we also see beauty, health, prosperity, life, birth, wisdom, intelligence, growth and progress. We also see goodness among people, faith, sincerity, charity, love and the spirit of sacrifice. We also see a lot of virtue and piety. It is wrong to see one side of the coin and not to see the other side. Any philosophy that concentrates on one aspect of the creation and denies or ignores the other side is partially true and partial truths are no truth at all.

A firm belief in Qadr shapes a Muslim’s psychological approach to both success and failure. When blessings arrive, Qadr prevents arrogance because the individual recognizes that their success was gifted by God, not achieved purely through personal brilliance. Conversely, when calamity strikes, it prevents despair, reminding the believer that the hardship was predetermined as a spiritual test to purify their sins or elevate their status. This balanced worldview allows a person to navigate life’s inevitable highs and lows with a steady heart, finding contentment (Rida) in whatever scenario unfolds.

Following their Hijra from Makkah to Madina, the Muhajirun were struck by a severe, water-borne fever (Humma Yathrib) that incapacitated companions including Abu Bakr and Bilal ibn Rabah (R). The Prophet Muhammad (S) prayed for the city’s healing, a divine intervention rendered the city wholesome, protecting it from future lethal pestilence. After recovering, the community addressed the practical challenge of organizing prayer times, rejecting non-Muslim methods like horns or bells in favour of a distinct, vocal call. This led to the adoption of the Adhan, revealed via a shared dream to companions Abdullah bin Zayd and Umar ibn al-Khattab (R), with Bilal ibn Rabah (R) appointed as the first Madh’dhin to deliver it.

The Prophet Muhammad (S) was a man of medium height, strong build, and broad shoulders. He had a radiant, fair complexion with a reddish undertone, often described as glowing like the full moon. His face featured large, deep black eyes with long lashes, crescent eyebrows, a prominent nose, and perfectly white, well-spaced teeth. He kept a full, dense beard and thick, wavy jet-black hair that reached between his ears and shoulders, showing fewer than twenty grey hairs in his lifetime. He walked briskly with purpose, always carried a warm smile, and possessed a gentle yet deeply commanding presence.

Tha’labah ibn Abdur-Rahman was a young companion from the Ansar who deeply loved the Prophet Muhammad and frequently ran errands for him. One day, while completing a task in Madinah, a sudden gust of wind lifted a privacy curtain, causing Tha’labah to accidentally glimpse a woman bathing. Plagued by immediate, intense guilt, he convinced himself that he was a hypocrite and became terrified that divine revelation would descend to expose his sin. Unable to face the Prophet, he fled Madinah entirely and exiled himself to the desolate desert mountains. After forty days of absence, the Prophet grew worried and sent Umar ibn Al-Khattab and Salman al-Farsi to search for him. They eventually encountered local shepherds who directed them to the cliffs where a “crying boy” lived in isolation, weeping day and night and barely consuming any food. They found Tha’labah emaciated and frail, consumed by the fear that he had been condemned by Allah. Umar reassured him and gently brought him back to Madinah to see the Messenger of Allah. Let’s see what happened next.

When Prophet Muhammad (S) arrived in Madina, he created the Constitution of Madina, the world’s first written constitution. This document united Muslims, Jewish tribes, and pagan Arabs into a single, collaborative nation. It established a multi-religious civic state rather than enforcing a single religion. The legislation transformed local society by guaranteeing full religious freedom and legal autonomy for non-Muslims. It also abolished tribal blood feuds by making criminal guilt strictly individual. To ensure peace, the prophet (S) was designated as the supreme judge to resolve major disputes. Finally, the laws required all citizens to jointly defend Madina from outside attacks and share war costs. The city was declared a sacred sanctuary where violence was strictly banned. This political framework was paired with market reforms that outlawed monopolies and fraud to protect consumers.

Does it feel like your soul is tired no matter how much rest you get? Are you overcome with restlessness and anxiety, even when you think you should feel safe? Do you feel a sense of emptiness and struggle to connect with others in a genuine way? Do you find yourself losing your temper over seemingly small things because a bigger cloud is overshadowing you? Do you feel that you cannot trust anyone because nobody has your best interests at heart? Are you numb and completely disengaged from your life and relationships? Do you struggle to deal with stress effectively and find yourself always fighting or running away from conflict? Are you angry with Allah because it feels like your load is too heavy to bear? Do you find yourself crying frequently and unable to shake a sadness weighing you down? Do you struggle to find joy in your daily life or even to get menial tasks completed? Do you carry a deep sense of shame and feelings of unworthiness? The Almighty puts us through trials to see if we would follow or reject his teachings.
