In every society, human beings live by two invisible forces: culture and religion. Both shape how we think, behave, and belong. Both offer guidance, meaning, and a sense of order. But while they often coexist in harmony, there are moments, sometimes quiet, sometimes explosive, when they clash. Culture is the set of customs, values, behaviours, and shared assumptions passed down through generations. It includes everything from how we greet one another to how we marry, mourn, raise children, and resolve conflict. It is deeply emotional, largely unconscious, and fiercely defended. Culture is not chosen, it is absorbed. Religion, by contrast, is revelation. It is deliberate, divine, and eternal. Islam is not simply one element of a Muslim’s cultural identity. It is a total worldview, revealed by Allah (S), that calls for unconscious submission to something higher than heritage, sentiment, or social expectation. Unlike culture, Islam is not inherited passively. It must be understood, internalized, and practiced with intention. In theory, culture and religion can support each other. Islam has always embraced cultural diversity, as long as it does not compromise tawheed or moral boundaries. But in practice, culture can become so dominant, so deeply woven into our sense of right and wrong, that it begins to override what Allah (SWT) has actually revealed.

“The Hour has drawn near, and the Moon was split in two. Yet, when- ever they see a sign, they turn away, saying, ‘Same old magic.’” (54:1-2). The Quraysh leaders (such as Abu Jahl and Walid Ibn Mughira) asked Muhammad S to prove his prophethood through a miracle. They challenged him to split the moon, demanding one half appear on Mount Abu Qubais and the other on Mount Quayqian. The purpose was to provide undeniable proof of the prophet’s divine mission and the truthfulness of his message, which they had frequently labelled as “magic” or “illusion”. On the 14th night of the full moon, by the permission of Allah, The prophet S pointed to the moon, and it split into two, with the Mountain of Hira visible between them. Despite witnessing the event, many of the polytheists rejected it, claiming, “This is a lingering magic,” and argued that the Prophet had cast a spell on their eyes.

Music nowadays shouldn’t be listened to by anyone who has regard for the Book of Allah. If you have an atom of faith in your heart, the mere mention of anything vulgar or shameless should be irritating to you. Some of us find it comforting to listen to Music. We feel as if Music expresses those hidden emotions within us or music takes away our sorrow. What we don’t understand is that music takes away our eman. Music corrupts the soul. You notice that Muslims that are addicted to music, once you play the recitation of the Holy Quran, they begin to get angry. They don’t want to listen to it because the Shayateen have taken over their hearts. So when you put on the Quran, the Shayateen begin to pinch their hearts, and the Quran becomes irritating to them. Subhanallah! You know what the Shayateen hate the most? They hate the WORD OF ALLAH.

Scholars have understood that every nation or generation will have its own Pharaoh. A tyrant who embodies arrogance, oppression, and hostility toward truth and justice. And one may conclude that the Pharaoh of the world are all those Muslims leaders. A “Pharaoh” of our time would be: A leader who oppresses the weak. Just look at the executive orders to cutting off aid to For Someone who sees themselves as above accountability. A figure who spreads corruption and injustice. One who rejects truth despite clear signs. The hadith serves as a reminder that oppression and arrogance have always existed and that, just as Pharaoh was ultimately defeated, every tyrant will meet their downfall. “And We caused Pharaoh and his people to drown, and all of them were utterly destroyed.” [Al-Isra’, 17:103]. What we see today is similar to what Pharaoh did, refusing to recognize the rights of the oppressed. Such behaviour, disregarding human rights, using threats of “All hell will break out,” and seeking to displace people, can indeed be seen as “Pharaonic” in nature.

Before the Isra’ and Mi‘raj, the Prophet (S) experienced the “Year of Sorrow,” marked by the passing of his noble wife Khadija (R) and his protective uncle Abu Talib. Al-Isra’ Wal-Mi’raj, or the Night Journey and Ascension, is one of the most profound miracles in Islamic Seerah, marking a pivotal moment of comfort and spiritual elevation for Prophet Muhammad (S). This event caused many of the faith worshippers and believers to renounce their faith on account of their disbelief and rejection of the Prophet Peace be upon him. As for the polytheists non-believers and those who opposed him , this event presented an opportunity for them to mock and falsify the prophetic claim even further. The only ones who truly believed were the staunch faith worshippers of Allah the almighty who stood by the messenger of Allah in this tried and tested time of great tribulation. They were the ones who supported the messenger of Allah peace be upon him and did not falter an inch from whatever the prophet peace be upon him claimed to have happened in this night journey.

Imam Ibn Al-Qayyim (R) brings together some of the great wisdoms behind the creation of shaytan in his book, Shifaa Al-Ghaleel, he writes, “in the creation of Iblis and his partners, there is wisdom, the details of which cannot be encompassed by anyone except Allah.” a few of the many reasons he mentioned are briefly stated below: The effects of fighting against shaytan and his supporters leads to the perfection of worship. the prophets and slaves of Allah perfect their servitude to Allah by struggling against shaytan and opposing his supporters. they also perfect their faith by seeking refuge in Allah from shaytan and fleeing to Allah in order to seek refuge from Shaytan’s evil. this leads to reaching lofty positions of worship that would not have been reached without Shaytan’s existence.

Essential steps include practicing silence in times of confusion, keeping righteous company, and actively avoiding situations that create doubt or discord. Strengthen Connection with Allah: Prioritize obligatory prayers, increase dhikr (remembrance), read the Quran, and make sincere dua to remain steadfast. Guard the Tongue and Senses: Avoid engaging in gossip, arguments, and consuming questionable content online, as these are primary sources of fitna. Seek Authentic Knowledge: Distinguish between truth and falsehood by learning from qualified, authentic scholars rather than relying on social media influencers.

The Prophet (S) recognized Ashama Ibn Abjar as a just ruler even before Islam reached him, and he was known for his piety both before and after embracing Islam. His wisdom, fairness, and integrity were apparent, especially when Ja’far and the Muslims sought refuge with him. He listened to both sides of the story, including the claims of Amr ibn al-As against the Muslims, exercising his wisdom and refusing to be swayed by gifts or bribery attempts. Ashama was a well-read, intellectual man who recognized the truth of the Prophet’s (S) message, seeing it as a confirmation of what was brought by Jesus and Moses, peace be upon them both, who prophesied the coming of Prophet Muhammad (S). When he spoke to Amr ibn al-As, he appealed to his intellect, displaying a notable level of understanding even before Islam.

Alawites are an ethnoreligious group of people who practice Alawism, a religious sect that originated from Shia Islam in the ninth century. They are primarily found in Syria and comprise an estimated 10–13% of its population. Alawites believe that Ali ibn Abi Talib, the cousin and son-in-law of Muhammad, was a physical manifestation of God. They also believe in the unity of God, but that God has revealed himself in a triune form multiple time. Sources have claimed that 7th century Abdullah Ibn Sabah a Jewish convert to Islam promoted extreme Shi’a beliefs, including the deification of Ali, in other words, claiming Ali himself is a form of GOD. All the Muslim groups denounced his beliefs at the time. More recently Alawites, historically known as Nusayris, are a group often discussed in relation to Syria’s complex socio-political history. Emerging from a mix of religious divergence, secrecy, and political opportunism, this sect presents an intriguing yet controversial facet of Islamic history. Their beliefs and practices, which blend elements of Islam, Christianity, Gnosticism, and ancient Persian traditions, have set them apart from mainstream Sunni and Shia Islam.
