According to scholar Ibn al-Qayyim R, there are five levels of people in Islamic prayer, ranging from punishment to high spiritual status. These levels include those who are negligent, those who struggle with distractions, those who fight against distractions, those who focus on perfection, and those whose hearts are completely immersed in devotion to Allah. These levels reflect the degree of khushu’ (concentration and humility) and sincerity in the prayer. In this lecture, we will look at these five levels in much details.
