Honesty is a Hallmark of a True Muslim: Truthfulness (Sidq) and trustworthiness (Amanah) are essential characteristics of a believer. The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) emphasized that there is no true faith in one who is not trustworthy or who breaks promises. “He Who Cheats Is Not Of Us”: A widely cited and foundational hadith in this matter is the Prophet’s statement: “Whoever cheats is not of us”. This strong statement disassociates the act of cheating from the true character of a Muslim. Betrayal of Trust: All forms of cheating are considered a betrayal of the trust that Allah has placed in individuals, as well as a betrayal of the trust people place in one another. The Qur’an warns believers not to “betray Allah and the Messenger, nor knowingly betray your trusts” (Qur’an 8:27).
