As we head into Episode 18, Ustadh Nouman Ali Khan, along with Zaid and Bushra, are discussing the striking verse: “On that Day, neither human nor jinn will be asked about his sin.” At first glance, this seems surprising especially when the Quran frequently speaks about questioning on the Day of Judgment. Yet here, the message is different: there will be no need to ask. A person’s own conscience, face, and state will testify to what he has done.
Key points of this episode:
• How is the word “dhanb” (sin) different from other words used for wrongdoing in the Quran?
• If the Quran mentions questioning elsewhere, why does this verse say no one will be asked?
• How do the different stages of the Day of Judgment unfold?
• In what way is our conscience itself a blessing within this verse?
This episode explains that the conscience and the feeling of shame are divine gifts meant to protect us. Allah has already placed within us an internal witness. If a person listens to that inner voice today, he may be spared the humiliation of exposure tomorrow.
