When Adam and Hawwa (AS) ate from the tree, Allah tells us that their bodies became exposed. They immediately began covering themselves with the leaves of Jannah.
The Quran includes this detail for a reason. Sin does not only affect our actions. It can affect our dignity, our sense of shame and our awareness that we have exposed something before Allah.
Their immediate response points to something Allah placed within the human fitrah: an instinct to recognize exposure and seek to cover what should not be exposed.
