Islam does not teach that a human being becomes trapped in permanent darkness after making a mistake. Allah placed a fitrah inside us, a natural light that can recognize truth.
Allah also sent revelation as light. When the light within the human being connects with the light of Allah’s words, it becomes light upon light.
Your mistakes do not mean that every trace of goodness has disappeared. They are a reminder to return to Allah, reconnect with His guidance and seek the One who placed that light within you.
