How Do You Know You’re Not Misreading the Quran?

One of the most common questions Ustadh Nouman Ali Khan receives at Quran Week is how anyone can be sure they are not misinterpreting the Quran. He treats it as a question as valid for him as for anyone else and gives the shortest possible answer. Allah expects two things of you in this pursuit: curiosity and humility. You need both. Curiosity asks what Allah is saying here and what the wisdom behind it is. Humility follows it with the acknowledgment that the conclusion you reached may be wrong, which turns collaborative learning, asking people who know more and continuing to read into a lifestyle rather than a one-off.
