The Prophet ﷺ had no refuge except to keep delivering the message, illa balaghan min Allahi wa risalatihi (72:23).
Ustadh Nouman Ali Khan explains why that sounds backwards and is not: his only defense was offense, because staying silent would mean offending his Rabb rather than the Quraysh.
He walks through the warning drawn from the fate of Fir’awn (73:15-16), then the harder truth. Sincere loyalty to this book will make you enemies, though not at the top first; the people closest to you go first, the ones who say they loved you until you became crazy.
You lose friends, loyalties and safety nets, then the very thing that cost you them becomes the thing that shelters you. The Sahaba who were tortured for it never lost the refuge that mattered. He closes on balagha itself: the reach of this book into a heart comes from Allah, never from the one reciting it.
