Alcohol is Prohibited in Islam and Christianity – Dr Zakir Naik

Allah says in the Quran in surah Dhariyath ch no.51, verse no. 56,
وَمَا خَلَقْتُ الْجِنَّ وَالْإِنسَ إِلَّا لِيَعْبُدُونِ
That we have created the jinn and the men, not but to worship me.
The main reason for our creation is to worship Allah (swt),
The word ibada come from the word Ab’d, that means we have to serve, we have to be obedient to Allah (swt).
So if we obey the commandments of Allah (swt), we are obeying Allah (swt), we are submitting our will to Allah (swt).
For example the glorious Quran says in surah Maida chapter no.5 verse no.90,
يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا
O you who believe.
إِنَّمَا الْخَمْرُ وَالْمَيْسِرُ
More certainly Intoxicants and gambling,
وَالْأَنصَابُ وَالْأَزْلَامُ
Dedication of stones divination of arrows,
رِجْسٌ مِّنْ عَمَلِ الشَّيْطَانِ
These are Satan’s handiwork.
فَاجْتَنِبُوهُ لَعَلَّكُمْ تُفْلِحُونَ
Abstain from this handiwork that you may prosper.

So if you abstain from having intoxicants, you are doing Ibadah, you are worshiping Allah (swt), you are obeying his commandments, you are submitting your will to Allah (swt)
And the same message is given in the Bible if you read the book of proverbs ch no. 20 verse no.1 it says,
Wine is a mocker. Strong drink is raging and whoever is deceived is not wise.
A similar message is repeated in the book of Ephesians chapter no 5 verse no. 18,
It says, be not drunk with wine.
So alcohol is even prohibited in the Bible in no less than two different places so if you abstain from having alcohol, you are submitting your will to Allah (swt).
