Extraneous and un-Islamic influences coupled with ignorance induce many Muslims to behave like non-Muslims on the days of Eid. They emerge from the month-long Fast of Ramadan with the idea that the happiness of the occasion justifies abandonment of the restraints on the nafs applied in the month of Ramadan. They feel that Eid is a license of fulfilling the sinful desires of the nafs–the desires which were held in control during the month of Ramadan.
