In this Short, Ustadh Nouman Ali Khan explains how the Quran describes the creation of Adam AS. Allah ﷻ announced to the angels that He would create a human being from clay, shape him perfectly, and breathe into him from His روح (15:29). Before Adam was even created, the angels were told they would one day bow to him in sajdah.
But in Surah Al-Baqarah (2:30), Allah ﷻ doesn’t mention the clay or the روح. Instead, He simply tells the angels: “I am placing a Khalifah on the earth.” This shows that the body made from earth and the روح given by Allah ﷻ together make us strong and responsible enough to carry this role.
Being human was never a punishment. It was part of Allah’s ﷻ plan from the very beginning—that we are honored, trusted, and chosen to live as caretakers of the earth.
