In this episode, the Surah enters one of its most discussed passages: marriage in Jannah.

Allah describes qaṣirat al-ṭarf, spouses whose gaze is devoted, focused and mutually absorbed. A relationship free from insecurity, comparison, jealousy and emotional residue. A love that does not decay.

The conversation also addresses an important question: what about women? Jannah is not a rigid list of rewards, it is “whatever you desire.” Emotional states will not be the same as they are in this world. Anxiety, possessiveness and resentment will be removed.

The description of spouses is not objectification. It acknowledges a deep, embedded human need, especially for men who restrained their desires in this life. It speaks to emotional fulfilment, not just physical pleasure.

And then comes something deeper.

The Surah is not only describing the future. It is quietly challenging the present. Guarding the gaze. Protecting intimacy. Restoring joy in marriage. Confronting comparison culture. Rewiring the heart.

Jannah offers timeless love, like precious stones that never lose value.

The question is whether we are building something that reflects even a glimpse of that here.
