These seasons are opportunities Allah has given us to return to Him and reinvigorate our commitment to Him and His worship. Fasting for the first 9 days reminds us of the fast of Ramadan and the incredible impact on raising our Eman it has. If one is unable then Arafat can be fasted on its own. Fasting as a continuous act of obedience has an incredible effect on ones soul, a proper fast means staying away from more than just food and drink, your ears, eyes, tongue and all other limbs fast. It is an act that Allah said is for ‘Him alone’ whilst all others are for the son of Adam and Allah will reward abundantly for it.
