In this short snippet from our Deeper Look Series: Surah Al-Muzzammil, Ustadh Nouman Ali Khan reminds us of something we rarely acknowledge: the convenience we enjoy with the Quran today came at a heavy price. We can open an app, scroll through Ayat on a slide, and recite with ease. But each of those Ayat reached us after the Prophet ﷺ endured humiliation, exhaustion, and unimaginable hardship.
He was insulted in ways we will never hear. He was burdened in ways we will never carry. And all of it was for the Quran.
At that time, he wasn’t seen as a Prophet, nor honored as “RasulAllah ﷺ.” He was simply a neighbor, a nephew, another man in Makkah dismissed, rejected, and opposed. Very few recognized his worth, while most turned away.
If there’s no other reason to connect with the Quran, then at least let it be gratitude for what our Messenger ﷺ went through so that we could hold it in our hands.
