In this Episode of Lives of The Khulafaa, Shaykh Dr. Yasir Qadhi covers the biography of Abdullah Ibn Abbas(R). Abdullah Ibn Abbas(R) was born when the Prophet(S) was suffering from the boycott. So the Prophet(S) not living in Makkah, he was living in valleys of The Banu Muttalib, found outside the city of Makkah.

It is said when Abdullah Ibn Abbas(R) was born, his father Abbas, wrapped him in a blanket and brought him outside the city, to introduce the Prophet(S) to his newborn cousin. This shows us how even though at this point he was not a Muslim, he was very sympathetic towards Islam. The Prophet(S) even made Du’a either the day he was born or the next day. He said: “May this child be a blessing for you”. The Prophet(S) then did ‘Tahneek’ of Abdullah Ibn Abbas(R). ‘Tahneek’ is when you take a piece of a date, you chew it and then feed it to the baby. Due to the boycott, there was a lack of food, So the Prophet(S) did ‘Tahneek’ only with his saliva. It is said that this is the only person whom the Prophet(S) did ‘Tahneek’ just with his saliva.
