The Black Stone or hajarul aswad is the most revered stone on the face of the earth and the most honoured part of ka’bah. Abdullah ibn ‘Abbas (R) reports that Messenger of Allah (s) said: ‘The black stone is a white ruby from the rubies of Jannah, it was only blackened due to the sins of the sons of Adam”. It will be brought forth on the day of judgment as huge as mount Uhud, to testify on behalf of those who touched or kissed it in the world.’ (Ibn Khuzaymah). The Prophet S also said: “By Allah, Allah will raise it on the Day of Resurrection with two eyes by which it sees and a tongue that speaks, testifying to those who touched it in truth” (Tirmidhi). Ibn Abbas (R) relates that the Prophet (S), while leaning against the Ka’bah said: “The hajr e aswad
and al-Maqam Ibrahim are two jewels from the jewels of Paradise. Had Allah not concealed their radiance, they would illuminate everything between the East and the West.” [Tirmidhi].
