To Allah we belong and to Him we shall all return.

Mawlana Muḥammad Yusuf Iṣlāḥī passed away at the ripe age of 92, in his homeland of India, after spending almost a century in learning and teaching the religion of Islam.

He authored over a hundred books (mainly in Urdu, which were then translated into English and Arabic), and travelled far and wide. He would regularly visit the States (this picture is from last year, in Dallas, when my father and I visited him and spent a wonderful afternoon with him).
It was Allah’s Qadr that his book, ‘Easy Fiqh’, was my first exposure to a detailed fiqh work when I was barely 14 years old. [I could not even imagine at the time that I would later meet him many times, and speak with him at conventions!] He was extremely active with the Islamic Circle of North America and in the Jamat-e-Islami movements in India.

He always carried himself with dignity and nobility that only knowledge can bring, and he displayed utmost humility and kindness and would always graciously meet with people despite the fact that he was almost always on the move and travelling from place to place.

May Allah forgive him and grant him Firdaws!
