One of the ten Companions who were given the glad tidings of Paradise while they were alive. He became a Muslim through Abu Bakr. He was a relative of the Prophet [S] through his mother. The Prophet often complimented him saying, “This is my maternal uncle Sa’d. Is there anyone who as an uncle like him?”
