Some years ago, a young lady approached me saying that she left Islam because of Surah Ar-Rahman.
Shocked, I asked why.
Her issue was that Allah says He’s the most loving, caring, compassionate and merciful, yet in this surah there are graphic descriptions of hellfire and His punishment. How can both of those be true at the same time?
I’m excited to share with you that this Ramadan, we’ll be releasing our entire Deeper Look on Surah Ar-Rahman right here on YouTube and Facebook, where I’ll be taking a deep-dive into not only these issues that concerned her, but the various other transitions that take place in this beautiful, profound surah.
We’ll journey through the various transitions that take place, from the decriptions of the Quran, to the beautiful creation all around us, to the very terrifying scenes of Judgment Day, to the two Jannahs, of of course, the echo that runs through all of this:
فَبِأَيِّ آلاءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ
As we journey through the surah, we’ll also explore question of gratitude, responsibility and awareness until you can’t help but feel personally addressed by Allah Himself.
Alongside the series, we’re also releasing a companion workbook, so you can pause, reflect, write and actually engage with the ayat instead of simply listening and moving on. And for families, schools and classrooms, there will also be a School Pack, so this surah can be studied together in a more structured and meaningful way.
