We all know that a fundamental part of our religion is to believe that Allah sends ‘Anbiah’ and ‘Rasool’. What is the difference between a Nabi and a Rasool?

A Nabi is somebody who tells you something that you do not know from Allah(SWT). Whereas a Rasool is sent by Allah to someone. To help differentiate between the two terms, Ibn Taymiyyah mentioned that a Nabi is sent to people who already believe in Allah, and a Rasool is sent to somebody who does not believe in him. Therefore, sometimes people accept their message while others choose to reject.

Examples:
Nabi – Adam is a Nabi because his children believed in him
Rasool – Nuuh is the first Rasool because his people rejected him.
