A group of jinn passed by the Prophet ﷺ while he was reciting Fajr, heard the Quran for a few minutes and everything they believed about the sky, the past and themselves changed.
In this opening session on Surah Al-Jinn, Ustadh Nouman Ali Khan lays the groundwork by walking through what the Quran already says about the jinn. He covers how people made them partners with Allah وَجَعَلُوا لِلَّهِ شُرَكَاءَ الْجِنَّ (6:100), how a person can worship them without ever praying to them, and why Allah told His Messenger ﷺ to leave their world alone rather than get pulled into fascination with it. He then explains لَهُمْ قُلُوبٌ لَّا يَفْقَهُونَ بِهَا (7:179) as two separate batteries, intellectual and spiritual, and why jinn who see angels can still refuse to believe.
Allah did not record what the jinn heard. He recorded how they reacted, and He made their words part of the Quran (72:1). Sit with that before you open the Surah again.
