In this short snippet from our new series ‘What Everyone Should Know About Abraham’, Ustadh Nouman Ali Khan reminds us of a core teaching from the life of Ibrahim (AS)—that faith must be owned, not borrowed.
He explains that simply being born into a Muslim family or growing up in a Muslim environment isn’t enough. At some point, every person must come to their own conclusion. You can’t say, “I’m Muslim because my parents are.” That may be fine as a child, but as you grow, the question becomes: What’s your reason?
When Ibrahim (AS) challenged his people, their only answer was, “We found our fathers doing this” (26:74). But Islam calls us to think, not just to follow.
In an age of questions and doubt, we need clarity, not inherited answers. The Quran isn’t built on blind tradition—it’s a book that speaks to the mind and heart.
