Recently in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Ustadh Nouman Ali Khan delivered a khutbah in which the two panics at the type of Musa (as) and Fir’awn occured: the panic in Fir’awn’s own government, and the panic among the Bani Israel.
Ayat 127-129 of Surah Al -A’raf capture this crucial moment in this story; a moment when Musa (as) had successfully defeated the magicians and destroyed Fir’awns great propaganda machine. Panic ensued among the chiefs who began questioning Fir’awn himself. Despite this victory, Musa’s own people – Bani Israel – had their own panic. It was inevitable that Fir’awns army would come for them, and they became skeptical of Musa’s (as) mission.
The powerful advice that Musa (as) gave to them at this time is what forms the backbone of this khutbah. A message about power, taqwa, and seeking help from Allah alone.
