In this Short, Ustadh Nouman unpacks the meaning behind the length of Judgment Day as described in Surah Al-Ma’arij (70:2–4). Some scholars interpreted the verse literally, saying the day will span 50,000 years. This raised concern among some Sahabah, who asked the Prophet ﷺ how anyone could endure such a day. The Prophet ﷺ reassured them that for the believer, the day will pass with ease—lighter than a single obligatory prayer in this life. This contrast shows how time itself will not be experienced the same by everyone. The Quran emphasizes that the burden of this day rests on the disbeliever. But for those who lived with Imaan, Allah will make the day easy and brief. The reminder here is not only about the reality of that Day, but about Allah’s mercy upon those who believed and prepared for it.
