Uqba ibn Abi Mu’ayt was a prominent Makkan polytheist and a neighbour of the Prophet Muhammad S who became notorious for his intense, personal animosity and acts against the Prophet during the early days of Islam in Makkah. He was one of the fiercest opposition to the Muslims. His main mistreat and actions against the Prophet included: While the Prophet was praying in the courtyard of the Ka’bah, Uqba brought the entrails and filth of a camel and placed it upon the Prophet’s back while he was in prostration. He consistently mocked and insulted the Prophet, actively working to impede the spread of Islam. Uqba was captured fighting against the Muslims at the Battle of Badr.
