The rise of the Muslim empire began in the 7th century, rapidly expanding from Arabia after Prophet Muhammad’s death in 632 CE. Led by the Rashidun and Umayyad caliphates, Muslim armies conquered the Byzantine and Sassanian empires, spanning three continents within decades. This period initiated a vast, influential civilization that flourished through trade, faith, and knowledge. Military Success: Early victories, such as in the Battle of Yarmouk (636) and the Battle of al-Qadisiyyah (636), crippled the Byzantine and Sassanian forces. Governance: The empire thrived by implementing a structured, often tolerant, administration, allowing non-Muslims to practice their faith in exchange for taxes. Cultural Legacy: The Islamic world became a centre for science, philosophy, and medicine during the Middle Ages, with major hubs in Baghdad and Cordoba.
