Western psychology puts you at the center of the universe, so it tells you your healing has to come from within. That’s exactly why the trauma keeps returning. The Quran points somewhere else entirely. Allah is the most important entity, which means your healing comes from outside you, from Allah.
So you won’t find it at a Bali vacation. You won’t undo your jealousy on a hike, or get over a breakup on a healing journey, or move past a conviction with an ocean sounds app. Those things might calm you, they might take your mind off it for a while, and that’s fine. But if you really want to move on without guilt, without shame, without anger, without resentment, and lift the entire burden off your life, then you have to develop one relationship really well. When that one relationship with Allah becomes healthy, every other relationship can fall apart around you and you will still remain stable.
That is how the trauma actually lifts. It comes from the outside in. Western psychology can’t take you there, because it insists nothing is greater than you. But once you turn to Allah first and let that light reach you, then you go inside out. It was always a two way street.
