Every decision we make—from the smallest everyday choices to life-changing commitments—is influenced by a complex interaction of thoughts, emotions, past experiences, and brain processes. But how do we actually arrive at a decision, and what happens in our minds before we act?
As part of Task 4: Architecture of Thought, this session explores the science behind human decision-making. It examines how the brain processes information, evaluates different possibilities, responds to emotions, and weighs potential outcomes before guiding us towards a choice.
???? In this session, we explore:
- How the brain processes information and evaluates choices
- The influence of emotions, memories, and past experiences on decisions
- The relationship between conscious reasoning and automatic responses
- How biases and mental shortcuts can affect our judgment
- How greater awareness can help us make more thoughtful and informed decisions
Understanding the science behind our decisions allows us to look beyond the choices we make and examine the processes that shape them. By understanding how we think, we can begin to understand why we choose—and how we can make better decisions.
