Abdullah ibn al-Zubayr was a towering figure in early Islamic history, known as the first child born to the Muhajirun (emigrants) in Madina. He was a prominent leader who challenged the Umayyad dynasty, representing the second generation of Muslims who sought to uphold the principles of the Prophet’s era. Ibn al-Zubayr was celebrated for his immense piety, bravery, and steadfastness in the face of tyranny. He defied the Umayyad ruler Yazid, refusing to pledge allegiance to a rule he considered unjust, and established his own khilafah centred in Makkah, the holiest city in Islam.
