A masjid should be a place children want to come to, not a place where they spend every visit being told to sit still and stay quiet.
What if children had a space where they could run around, play tag, set up ping pong tables and enjoy themselves without constantly being reprimanded? The rule is simple: play as much as you want, as long as you do not hurt one another. But when the adhan begins, the atmosphere changes. This is Allah’s house, and it is time to stand for salah.
The real goal is not simply to make a masjid more entertaining. It is to help children develop a sense of ownership. When children understand both their freedom and their responsibility, they begin reminding one another of the boundaries instead of waiting for adults to enforce every rule.
If we want the next generation to care about our masjids, we have to give them a reason to feel that they belong there. The goal is not just to bring children into the masjid today. It is to raise the people who will cherish it, protect it and take responsibility for it tomorrow.
