My thoughts about the shooting in Paris and Charlie Hebdo.
Commenting on the Charlie Hebdo shootings in Paris, Nouman Ali Khan
emphasizes that Muslims who commit a heinous act are an embarrassment and
a humiliation to all Muslims and that we must take collective responsibility to
undo the chaos that is engulfing the Umma. As offensive as the cartoons may
be, it is equally offensive to kill and justify it by saying that we are protecting
Islam because this ignores the entire legacy of Prophet Muhammad and is an
insult to both Islam and the Prophet. As we reserve our right to be offended by
such hateful speech, we should take a close look in the mirror and realize that in
order to transform our reality we must restore our connection with the book of
Allah.
