Wajh, Surah An-Nisa, Ayah 125

In this ayah, Allah exalts the one who submits his “face” to Him. In Arabic, the word wajh gives vivid imagery to the concept of submission. The face represents one’s prestige and position in society, it is how we are identified. For one to submit his face to Allah, it’s as if they’re submitting their purpose and intention to Him. Just as when we prostrate to Allah in prayer, it is not only the greatest form of physical submission, but it’s also an intellectual, emotional and spiritual submission.
