Man’s visceral desire for recognition for its own sake is a quality inherited from shaytan, who was too proud to kneel before Adam when Allah commanded him. When such pride leads to conceit it begins to affect ever aspect of your life. Shaytan instilled this pride inside humanity because it is what destroyed him so he wants to make sure we too are inflicted with it.
