In this short snippet from our Deeper Look series: Surah Al-Mursalat, Ustadh Nouman Ali Khan reflects on the scene described in the Quran when the stars and the sun are erased from the sky (81:1). On that Day, the forces at work in the universe will be so destructive that, under any normal circumstances, life would instantly cease.
If the sun’s balance shifted even slightly today, it would mean the end of all life on Earth. Yet on that Day, when the galaxies themselves are collapsing, Allah will keep every human being alive — not because we can physically withstand it, but because He will hold us in place to witness it.
It will be life sustained only to face the reality we once ignored, kept standing to see what we were certain would never come.
