Before a single ruling is given, the opening of Surah Al-Hashr sets the listener’s mind. Ustadh Nouman Ali Khan explains how: the heavens are already in perfect submission; the chaos belongs to the earth, yet even that chaos is part of Allah’s plan.

He shows why the word “ma” appears twice in this ayah, why a surah about crisis opens with tasbih and what it means that the universe has been declaring Allah’s perfection for billions of years before any of us joined in.

Then the question every believer faces when life feels disordered: how can Allah’s perfect plan include all of this? He answers it through Musa (AS), who asked for Harun (AS) so that together they could declare Allah’s perfection.

He closes with a challenge to the way we speak about getting closer to Allah, who is already near.
